hey eee eh...! yeh eee yeh...! i got this book the other day!

purchased this big ass globe international book, as show in the image above, a day before new years eve last year (2016) at a local book store. well, i actually made them bring it in store for me, as it would have definitely cost hella lot more if i had mail ordered it myself and by the way, this book weighs a ton! i fukkin' kid you not!

“unemployable: 30 years of hardcore, skate and street”, consists of 705 pages from cover to cover! this muthafukka is jam packed & filled with more than 500 photographs and illustrations, with hardcover binding and weighs a little over 3 kilograms! no fukkin' lie, i tell ya! more like a couple of cinder blocks rather than a book.

i strained my right shoulder from the sheer weight of it gravitating down on the slings of the tote bag that i was carrying this book in, during my whole day out. what a fukkin' pain in the neck!

alright, alright... let's get on to business now. actually, i had already mentioned about this book before purchasing it in a few posts sometime back. so, go and read it, here, you lazy arses! well, that makes us even, since me own arse is too damn lazy to write a personal take and / or review for this ginormous beast!

anyways, fuck the world, go read as many books as you can, take photographs and while you're at it, don't forget to push your skateboards too, muthafukkaz!

peace park - the documentary trailer.

peace park is a documentary about a turf war ragging in a small park in the heart of montreal’s downtown core. fighting for the public space is a community of lifers that consists of drug dealers, crack addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, and the homeless. there is also a community of skaters who use this spot because it’s perfect for skateboarding. the two communities battle daily over the space, but there exists a larger conflict with the city and broader elements of society who see both groups as “undesirable”.

local skateboarder david bouthillier has chronicled these conflicts for the past 12 years as the city and police embarked on measures bordering on the absurd in an attempt to rid the park of these communities and clean up the area’s image.

the documentary explores the historical importance of the neighborhood and how a series of attempts by the city to clean up the area has contributed to the current situation in the park. it looks at the present political conflicts between corporate greed and grassroots artists, and how different forms of underground culture, particularly skateboarding and graffiti, have made their mark on the public space.

a theme of tolerance is weaved throughout the story, told through interviews and personal accounts matched with raw, violent and highly disturbing footage that reveals a unique glimpse into the reality of the street life for many metropolitans.

a human perspective is maintained by showing individuals with problems that need addressing instead of a single problem while highlighting broader social and urban problems.

what’s in store for the future of burnside?

if you’ve been down to burnside in the past few months, then you’ve seen it first hand: times are changing. parking lot lurkers have been replaced by a huge cement wall—the exterior of a mixed-use high rise going up within feet of the burnside bridge. intense gentrification of the produce row area isn’t burnside’s only problem, though. multnomah county has launched a 20-year plan to retrofit the city’s aging bridges and burnside bridge is on top of that list!

on halloween 2015, burnside skatepark turns a quarter century old. will the park and / or the spirit of burnside survive another 25 years?

epicly later'd: 20 years of chocolate!

part one!

chocolate has always been an elite skateboarding brand, so we jumped at the opportunity to do a "20 years of chocolate" episode. it gave us a chance to tap a lot of skaters that have never been featured on the show before and its an honor just to ride in chocolate's wake.

we filmed more interviews than we have for any episode before—and this is still a fraction of the stories we could have told. the brand has gone through many different incarnations and endured its fair share of hardships. enjoy!

in this part we talk about keenan milton, who got on the team a year or so after it formed. he was one of the best before his tragic death by drowning in 2001. the legendary 2003 skate video "yeah right!", features a short prologue paying tribute to keenan. every story we heard about keenan is what a great guy and friend he was and how much he is missed.

later on, we catch up with stevie williams to hear how chocolate inspired him to start his own brand, dgk.

it's always interesting to see what skaters do after their time is up in professional skating and the difficulties they face entering the real world. we tracked down chocolate alumni everywhere from weed dispensaries to auto body shops to real estate firms. in the final chocolate episode, we tried to tie up all the loose ends and take a look at the future of the team. we also caught up with some of the trunk boyz and went to east la with vincent.

14th august 2014 marked a sad day for skateboarding as jay adams passed away. jay adams probably was the single most influential skateboarder in the history of this past-time be it through ability, style or mentality, always seeking the enjoyment from it.

it is with deep sadness that we say goodbye today to "the original seed", jay boy adams. the definitive spark of radical skateboarding and as history will remember him, the most influential skateboarder of all time.

we have lost the man but a legend has been born.

our thoughts and prayers are with jay's family and friends. 

long live jay boy! 100% skateboarder! rip in peace.
