hey eee eh...! yeh eee yeh...! i got this book the other day!

purchased this big ass globe international book, as show in the image above, a day before new years eve last year (2016) at a local book store. well, i actually made them bring it in store for me, as it would have definitely cost hella lot more if i had mail ordered it myself and by the way, this book weighs a ton! i fukkin' kid you not!

“unemployable: 30 years of hardcore, skate and street”, consists of 705 pages from cover to cover! this muthafukka is jam packed & filled with more than 500 photographs and illustrations, with hardcover binding and weighs a little over 3 kilograms! no fukkin' lie, i tell ya! more like a couple of cinder blocks rather than a book.

i strained my right shoulder from the sheer weight of it gravitating down on the slings of the tote bag that i was carrying this book in, during my whole day out. what a fukkin' pain in the neck!

alright, alright... let's get on to business now. actually, i had already mentioned about this book before purchasing it in a few posts sometime back. so, go and read it, here, you lazy arses! well, that makes us even, since me own arse is too damn lazy to write a personal take and / or review for this ginormous beast!

anyways, fuck the world, go read as many books as you can, take photographs and while you're at it, don't forget to push your skateboards too, muthafukkaz!

peace park - the documentary trailer.

peace park is a documentary about a turf war ragging in a small park in the heart of montreal’s downtown core. fighting for the public space is a community of lifers that consists of drug dealers, crack addicts, alcoholics, prostitutes, and the homeless. there is also a community of skaters who use this spot because it’s perfect for skateboarding. the two communities battle daily over the space, but there exists a larger conflict with the city and broader elements of society who see both groups as “undesirable”.

local skateboarder david bouthillier has chronicled these conflicts for the past 12 years as the city and police embarked on measures bordering on the absurd in an attempt to rid the park of these communities and clean up the area’s image.

the documentary explores the historical importance of the neighborhood and how a series of attempts by the city to clean up the area has contributed to the current situation in the park. it looks at the present political conflicts between corporate greed and grassroots artists, and how different forms of underground culture, particularly skateboarding and graffiti, have made their mark on the public space.

a theme of tolerance is weaved throughout the story, told through interviews and personal accounts matched with raw, violent and highly disturbing footage that reveals a unique glimpse into the reality of the street life for many metropolitans.

a human perspective is maintained by showing individuals with problems that need addressing instead of a single problem while highlighting broader social and urban problems.

today is a really sad day for the skateboarding community worldwide...

news came in all over the skateboarding social media, that dylan joseph rieder, passed on earlier today, the 12th of october 2016, at an early age of 28, due to complications battling cancer, leukemia to be precise.

you were really one of a kind, the best at what you did and also, a truly inspirational individual. yet you have gone too young, too soon... maybe the skate gods have better plans for you up there, somewhere...

ride in peace, dylan and my regards to all the legendary skate rats that have passed on and are there with you above the clouds.

legends never die and you'll forever be remembered in our hearts. thank you for the mark and impact that you have made for the skateboarding culture, community and skate souls worldwide.

14th august 2014 marked a sad day for skateboarding as jay adams passed away. jay adams probably was the single most influential skateboarder in the history of this past-time be it through ability, style or mentality, always seeking the enjoyment from it.

a short documentary following the late great artist, shawn whisenant.

shawn whisenant is a born and raised san francisco bay area artist whose art can be found lurking in the streets or galleries and museums across the usa, australia and europe. he has been working on the streets of the bay area since the mid 1990ʼs, where his images continue to endure on walls, mailboxes and other surfaces around the city. he enjoys making books and stickers, taking photos, painting signs and moving about in the city’s shadows. in the streets and galleries, his work has seen many different forms. from rare-hand crafted books, to skateboard films and a signature pair of osiris shoes, his creating doesn’t end with paintings.

it is with deep sadness that we say goodbye today to "the original seed", jay boy adams. the definitive spark of radical skateboarding and as history will remember him, the most influential skateboarder of all time.

we have lost the man but a legend has been born.

our thoughts and prayers are with jay's family and friends. 

long live jay boy! 100% skateboarder! rip in peace.

"i did this sculpt to honour one of skateboarding's most incredible individuals. it wasn't a commission or anything. i really did it for myself. but as i came close to finishing the sculpt, i thought ‘why not send it to john?' i'm really glad i did. it's the least i could do for a guy who gave so much inspiration to the skateboarding community. when he recieved the sculpture via the guys at dlx, he called me to thank me for it. when i realized who i was on the phone with i couldn't breathe. lol! i was so hyped! thanks, john!

i want to thank the guys out at dlx for helping me finish the sculpture. jim thiebaud and damon thorny, both sent me photos that helped me out tremendously. when the sculpt was finished, i sent it to dlx and they made sure john recieved it.

i love mark gonzales, so i'm gonna quote him again here speaking about cards in the transworld "sight unseen" film. “he's an original ripper; he's an original coors." i'd say that about sums it up. there are few people who epitomize the spirit of skateboarding like john cardiel. if you don't know that, then you need to go watch his videos. enough said!"

bad shit is a band from san francisco, california, that was formed in 2005. consisting of jake phelps (editor in chief of thrasher magazine) on guitar, tony trujillo (anti hero skateboards team rider) on bass and on drums, trixie (trujillo's wife). they play a mix genre of hardcore / punk and thrash! do check 'em out, if you have da time. love 'em or hate 'em, they don't give a shit none da less... but to me, they fukkin' kick ass!!!

here's a tribute track they did for the one and the only living legend and an icon of skateboarding, john cardiel! a must listen, yo! \m/
