bones brigade: an autobiography (full documentary 2012).

for those of you who have not seen this heart felt documentary yet, here it is.

it's not a death metal band, an extreme diet club or historic dominoes association—the bones brigade was a talented gang of teenage outcasts. unmotivated by fame or popularity, they completely dedicated their lives to a disrespected art form. for most of the 1980s, this misfit crew headed by a 1970s ex-skateboard champion blasted the industry with a mixture of art and raw talent becoming the most popular skateboarding team in history. the core unit of the bones brigade built an empire that covered the world. they dominated contests, made hundreds of thousands of dollars, created the modern skateboard video, reinvented endemic advertising, pushed skate progression into a new era, and set the stage for a totally new form of skating called street style. there's nothing comparable in today's skateboarding.

the bones brigade video show is a 1984 skateboarding video, produced by stacy peralta and craig stecyk.

it was the first of several videos produced by the powell peralta company and showcased members of the bones brigade skateboarding team, including steve caballero, tony hawk, mike mcgill, lance mountain, rodney mullen, stacy peralta and per welinder.

stacy peralta returns to sundance this year with bones brigade: an autobiography, a continuation of sorts of his first documentary, dogtown and z-boys, which had its premiere in park city in 2001. both films explore the creation and culture of modern skateboarding, along with peralta’s part in it — this time during the 1980s era, with bones brigade members steve caballero, tommy guerrero, tony hawk, mike mcgill, lance mountain and rodney mullen.
